Marijke Felix Damrell
Painting with pastels and acrylics bring me joy.
I am a Dutch American artist living on a small island in midcoast Maine. I grew up in the Netherlands, studying history at the Universiteit van Amsterdam. I moved to Maine 35 years ago with my husband, where we raised our two daughters with our family dogs along the way.
I've always been drawn to art, having experimented with different mediums through the years, such as ceramics and textiles. I began working with pastels 15 years ago, and in the past 5 years started learning techniques with acrylics. I am an active member of the Pastel Society of Maine, and my work has been featured in Sebascodegan Gallery, a collective gallery in midcoast Maine, and also at the Post Office Gallery in Georgetown, Maine.
The fluid yet rugid landscapes of Maine inspire a lot of my art. I am lucky to live in a place where public access to waterfront is valued, and therefore a lot of my paintings are inspired by walks on the beach or through the saltwater marsh in the state park nearby.
Thank you for visiting my site and learning more about my art. Please feel free to connect directly via my Inquires page, and I look forward to hearing from you. Bedankt!
